San Francisco 49ers general manager John Lynch recently addressed the ongoing rumors surrounding quarterback Trey Lance.
After being selected by the San Francisco 49ers third-overall back in the 2021 NFL Draft, Trey’s sophomore season was cut short due to an unfortunate ankle injury and the third-year QB was rumored to be traded this offseason.
However, the promising youngster didn’t shed any light on the potential trade rumor while attending his alma mater, North Dakota State’s final spring practice on Monday stating, “I got no comment on that. I have no information.”
What did the 49ers GM John Lynch say about the trade rumors of Trey Lance?
The 49ers’ GM John Lynch disclosed their young QB Trey Lance’s trade rumors during a press conference to preview the upcoming 2023 NFL Draft on Monday citing nothing has happened this offseason to lead the franchise to trade their QB any time soon.
“Absolutely, I expect for Trey to be here. We’re excited about Trey’s ability to compete and what he can do for our franchise — just as we were when we drafted Trey”, he said.
Lynch gushed about the 22-year-old’s mindset and his mutual state with the team.

“Trey and I have talked, and we’re on the same page. Trey knows exactly where the situation is. His mindset is all about competing. And I think that’s exactly where his mindset should be”, he added.
The GM expressed his excitement to witness Trey improve upon some things he desired to improve long back.
“We’re excited about the position he’s put himself in with the work he’s done this offseason to No. 1 get healthy and, No. 2, improve upon some things and that he wanted to improve upon.”
The young signal-caller needed two surgeries on his right ankle in a span of three months and made his appearance in eight football games in the past three years.
Despite the ongoing trade rumors, Lynch’s comments reassure the 49ers’ fans that the franchise is committed to giving Lance the opportunity to develop and succeed in San Francisco. As the offseason continues, it will be interesting to see how the young QB progresses and what role he ultimately plays for the franchise in the upcoming season.
