After undergoing surgery two months ago, the return of Brock Purdy to the field during this season caused a lot of concern, but San Francisco 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan shared information that gave the fans a sense of relief.
During the first quarter of this year’s NFC championship game, Purdy tore the ulnar collateral ligament in his throwing elbow, necessitating successful elbow surgery this offseason to repair it.
What did Kyle Shanahan reveal on the comeback of Brock Purdy?
The quarterback had previously expressed his desire to get back on the field, and now the head coach has expressed his belief following the 49ers’ practice at scheduled team events that the 27-year-old will be ready to play by saying “And we feel pretty optimistic about that.” They are preparing for the team’s Sept. 1 season opener and wished the QB to join there.
“We’re hoping for Week 1,” regarding Brocks’ return, he continued.

Purdy anticipates making a swift return as well
The veteran quarterback remained unable to practice with his teammates for the majority of the offseason, as he stated in March, he is eager to get back on the field.
“We’re all working to get me back as soon as possible but in the right manner,” he said. “I’ve just got to take it one day at a time, get healthy, start throwing again, and things like that. And then just go from there. But it’s all going to work out how it needs to.”
Even though he is unable to participate in the OTA, being able to join the team on September 1 for the season opener brings him the utmost joy, and he also stated that Week 1 is his clear goal.
“I feel good,” he said. “My arm is feeling good. That’s the goal, you want to be ready for the season.”
The 23-year-old is a great asset to the Niners’ center position as he proved his worth throughout his career with them. It is clear from his performance with the team how exceptional he is as San Francisco’s victory over its NFC West rival was the seventh straight game he had multiple passing touchdowns, tying him with Steve Young for second most in franchise history and Justin Herbert for the most by a rookie since 1950.
Additionally, he is the first rookie quarterback with three passing touchdowns and one rushing touchdown in a playoff game and the second rookie quarterback in the Super Bowl era with a pass and rush touchdown.
Shanahans’ team is doing everything possible to get their veteran quarterback back on the field as soon as possible with his good health because his numerous records from his rookie season had a significant impact on the team.
