Dolphins’ $30 million QB Tua Tagovailoa weighs in on struggles with fame and privacy: “I am a very private person”

The NFL world is not deprived of glamor and buzz. It provides its athletes with immense popularity and fame. However, some players don’t like this popularity because of the responsibilities it comes with. One such opinion was shared by Tua Tagovailoa, the quarterback of the Miami Dolphins

In a recent interview, Tagovailoa talked about his disappointment at losing his privacy. It is hard for NFL players to maintain a positive image which prevents them from enjoying their life the way they want.

Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa longs for normalcy amidst fame

The quarterback is ready for the new season, and everyone has high expectations for him. Tagovailoa faced a lot of setbacks in his career because of injuries. But now, he is healthy and ready to mark his name in the league.

However, there are some issues that are still irritating him. In a recent interview with The Palm Beach Post, Tua shared that he is a very private person, and he longs for that privacy he used to have when he was young.

“I am a very private person. I think people somewhat understand that. But I really, I really do like my privacy. There are a lot of moments where I wish I could just be normal. Where I could just do things that I would normally have done in high school or growing up.”

He further highlighted that it is hard to find people who treat you nicely because of who you are and not because of your popularity or position.

“It’s the best when people treat you the way they treat you not knowing who you are, not because of who you are but because that’s who they are as a person.”

Obviously, when you are famous you have to be very precise about your every move even in your personal life. It can be very hard for the players and Tua was brave enough to bring forward this topic.

How much is Tua getting paid?

The quarterback was drafted by the Miami Dolphins in 2022 and is still on the same contract. He has played in 36 career games with 34 starts, completing 708-of-1,078 career passes for 8,015 yards and 52 touchdowns.

His contract was four years long and the team officially exercised the fifth-year option on his rookie contract on Monday. The QB has now signed a contract for the 2024 season which is worth $23.2 million
