Wrestling analyst drops truth bomb on why WWE did not push Sami Zayn to dethrone Roman Reigns despite overwhelming fan support

Sami Zayn is one of the biggest babyfaces in the WWE right now. He is currently the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Champion, along with Kevin Owens. He was also one of the biggest superstars in WWE NXT. The future was always bright for him on the main roster.

Despite his meteoric rise, what made WWE think that he does not have “it”? Wrestling observer Dave Meltzer had some insights to share in this regard as to why Sami might not get enough push from the management despite his immense organic popularity.

Dave Meltzer claims WWE considered Zayn’s popularity to be “fluke”

Wrestling observer, Dave Meltzer recently shared his opinion on how WWE treats Zayn nowadays. He said that WWE is keen on protecting World Heavyweight Champion Seth “Freakin” Rollins from taking a clean pin, but that is not the case for Sami. According to them, beating Zayn is not that big of a deal and would not prove to be a rub for any wrestler. Considering his recent booking, it is a big downfall for Zayn.

Sami Zayn’s current run as a Tag Team Champion is all because of Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns. The former Honorary Uce shared a lot of screen time with him to become more prominent than ever. If Sami had never turned on Roman by backstabbing him, he would have never gotten over with the fans, let alone the main event at Wrestlemania. Sami and KO defeated the longest-reigning Tag Team Champions, The Usos, for the Tag Titles at WrestleMania.

Sami Zayn, Kevin Owens yet to book spot at SummerSlam card

SummerSlam is right around the corner, and the Tag Team Champions are to be booked at the event. Following their win at WrestleMania, the duo has not been involved in a compelling storyline. Sure, the matches have been good with the involvement of big stars like Gunther and Cody Rhodes, but still, they lack a proper feud with any of the factions. Their short-term feud with Pretty Deadly was interesting but didn’t last long.

This week’s RAW saw Judgment Day’s Damian Priest and “Dirty” Dom fail in their attempt to take the tag title off of Sami and KO. With Finn Bálor and Rhea Ripley facing Seth “Freakin” Rollins and Raquel Rodriguez, it looks like Damian and Dom will have their Tag Titles rematch at the event. It will be interesting to see whether Judgment Day wins all the gold or not at the biggest party of the summer.
