What exactly is “Tribal Combat”? Explaining the stipulation for Roman Reigns vs Jey Uso SummerSlam clash

‘The biggest party of the summer’ is here, and the WWE Universe can hardly wait to witness the ultimate summer spectacle. With marquee matches like Brock Lesnar vs Cody Rhodes and Seth “Freakin” Rollins vs Finn Bálor, the stage is set for the iconic event.

On Smackdown this week, WWE seemingly announced the main event of SummerSlam. It will be the third bout between the cousins, Roman Reigns and Jey Uso. The leadup to this match had already been going on for weeks however, there has been further development in this regard.

Roman Reigns set to defend his World Championship vs Jey Uso at SummerSlam

It didn’t come as a major surprise that SummerSlam this year is scheduled to host three trilogy matches. First is Brock vs Cody, second, is Seth vs Finn, and third is Roman vs Jey. In Roman and Jey’s earlier matches, one was a normal singles match, and the other was the iconic Hell in a Cell “I Quit” match. It will be interesting to see whether WWE will be able to produce the same magic in the next clash.

The stipulation that WWE has added to their upcoming SummerSlam clash caught many fans off guard. With Jimmy out and Solo on the side of Roman, it will likely be a daunting task for Jey to topple the Head of the Table.

Now, the actual question is, despite the stipulation being the same as a No-Disqualification match, what is the actual meaning of “Tribal Court”?

Explaining the first ever “Tribal Combat” stipulation

On Smackdown this week, Reigns and Jey were scheduled to carry out the “Rules of Engagement”. Reigns signed the contract for their upcoming clash and passed it to Jey to do the same. Surprisingly, Jey tore down the contract, saying they don’t need one as the contract is in their blood. Jey then went to add the “Tribal Combat” stipulation to their match which even surprised Roman.

They went on to shake heads and nod to each other, which seemed to be some kind of ritual for the acceptance of their match. The Undisputed WWE Universal Championship as well as the title of “Tribal Chief” are on the line with absolutely no disqualifications in the match.

Fans are left wondering, with the odds completely on Roman’s side, will Jey pull off a major upset or succumb to the actual Tribal Chief once again? It will surely be a sight to behold as the family drama seemingly comes to a final conclusion.
