“He’s very happy here”: Atalanta coach clears the air surrounding Manchester United target Rasmus Hojlund

Manchester United is moving big this summer window. After the transfer of Mason Mount, the club has also completed the transfer of Inter Milan’s Andre Onana. They are also looking at bringing in Harry Kane from Tottenham, and Sofyan Amrabat from Fiorentina.

The Red Devils are also now hoping to sign talented and young striker Rasmus Hojlund from Atalanta. As Manchester United prepares a bid for the player, Atalanta coach Gian Piero Gasperini has spoken about the 20-year-old Danish striker’s situation, something that increased the difficulty of the transfer.

Gian Piero Gasperini sheds light on Rasmus Hojlund transfer speculations

Danish player Rasmus Hojlund is currently the top target of United. The 20-year-old scored 9 times in 20 Seria A appearances last season. Even for Denmark, he has scored six times in just 4 matches. He is seen as having a similar profile to Erling Haaland, and similarly, he is highly sought after by many clubs.

As transfer speculations of the player to United keep getting stronger, Atalanta gets pressured to answer questions. Coach Gian Piero Gasperini was recently asked in an interview whether his star player Rasmus Hojlund is close to joining Manchester United.

The manager did say that Hojlund is indeed happy to stay at the club but admitted that financial situations could change this, according to the renowned Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano.

“Højlund and Man Utd? Sometimes there are choices to make and also agents… we all have to consider the financial factor. He’s very happy here, I’d love to keep Rasmus of course but sometimes clubs and also players have to consider huge bids.”

United reportedly agreed personal terms with the Danish striker

The Red Devils have also talked with Hojlund directly about a possible move. The 20-year-old striker is excited to move and is said to be ready to join as soon as possible. In fact, he has also agreed personal terms already with the Red Devils.

But Atalanta won’t let him leave easily. The Italian club has asked for a strict cash deal, with no swap deals involved. He is currently valued at around €70 million by the Seria A club.

Apparently, United had already held talks with the club in order to explore transfer strategies. According to the Express, the English club reportedly offered three players in a possible swap deal. The names of the players are unknown though there are indications that it was the trio of Donny Van de Beek, Harry Maguire, and Antony Martial. Martial is also understood to be offloaded to raise funds for the transfer of Hojlund.

Fabrizio Romano has already reported that United has prepared an opening bid. The bid will be sent within the next few days. Although the proposed amount is unknown, the speculations indicate that it could be close to Atalanta’s asking price. Manager Erik Ten Haag is said to want the move done as soon as possible.
