When Patrick Mahomes signed a $450 million deal with the Kansas City Chiefs in 2020, it came as a shock to everyone. It was the biggest deal in NFL history and the third-biggest deal in the whole sports world. After three years, Justin Herbert finally broke this record. 

His contract was under discussion for the past few weeks and the discussion came to an end with a record-breaking contract extension. He has signed a new deal with the Chargers which makes him one of the highest-paid players in the NFL.

The quarterback has agreed to a 5-year, $262.5 million contract extension with the Los Angeles Chargers. He will get $218 million guaranteed money and $52.5 million per year.

This information has been released by an NFL insider. The team only announced that they have signed Herbert to a multi-year deal and didn’t reveal any financial details.

It was the biggest deal any NFL player ever got. Mahomes earns $45 million per year through this deal.

The record of this biggest deal is now broken by Herbert who will get $52.5 million per year. It is a great achievement for the quarterback in his already well-established career.
