Rey Mysterio is a legend in the business and continues to wrestle like a cruiserweight in his near 50s. Rey is considered one of the greatest luchadors of all time. He is even called ‘The Biggest Little Man’, who has won multiple titles and is a well-respected Hall of Famer.
There is one man though who doesn’t respect Rey, and that is none other than his son, “Dirty” Dominik Mysterio. Dirty Dom just won the NXT North American Championship and looks like he has his first credible challenger, his father. So, what had Rey in mind to say to his son?
Rey Mysterio warns son Dominik Mysterio
Dominik’s in-ring debut was at SummerSlam 2020 when he was defeated by Seth “Freakin” Rollins. Despite losing, Dominik portrayed to the WWE universe and the higher-ups that he had a bright future in the business. Since then, he has come a long way and has finally won his first singles title, NXT North American Championship, by defeating Wes Lee.
His long-time rival, Rey Mysterio, recently talked about his son and was proud of how far he has come. Regarding his title win, he said, “Despite our differences, I’m extremely proud of what he’s doing and what he’s conquering. He just better not step in the ring, because I’ll take that North American title.” It looks like Dominik finally has a credible challenger, and WWE may renew their rivalry with another one-on-one match.
Rey Mysterio and Dominik Mysterio’s father-son bond explored
The father-son duo became the first tag team to win the tag titles and also the first duo to have a single match that too at Wrestlemania. Back in 2005, Rey even fought his long-time best friend, Eddie Guerrero, over the custody of Dominik Mysterio. Dominik has been featured in the WWE for longer than other wrestlers and will surely stay around for a long time to come.
Rey and Dominik put on one hell of a fight at Wrestlemania, and every fan was highly invested in their feud. Despite taking a loss at the hands of his father, Dominik got a huge rub. Dirty Dom has proven that with his Mami, Rhea Ripley, on his side, he can win whatever he wants, and he calls Rey a “Dead-Beat Dad.”
If WWE decides to pull the trigger and revisit their rivalry this time, for the title, it will truly be a scene to behold. Wrestlemania 40 looks like the best place to have the highly-anticipated rematch.
