The head coach of the Cowboys, Mike McCarthy, is back in his element; this time he has adopted a new approach and a new focus to thrive in the upcoming NFL season. The HC has got the full charge of the offense for the first time and he’s not going to take the job easily.
Brian Schottenheimer, the OC of the team recently talked about the strong determination and enthusiasm of the HC referring to his strategies as “aggressive” and “attacking.” Let’s take a closer look at the HC’s plans for the upcoming season.
Cowboys HC wants to play attacking football
McCarthy is an exceptional coach. He led the Green Bay Packers to Super Bowl victory as the head coach of the team in 2010. He also won a play-caller for the team.
Now, he is the head coach of the Cowboys and is given the responsibility of the teams’ offense for the 2023 NFL season. The offensive coordinator of the team, Schottenheimer shared that McCarthy is re-energized.
He shared that the coach knows he is the best and has confidence in his skills.
“He is re-energized. He’s excited. When you’re a competitor, right? And you’re a play-caller and that’s what you love to do. Right? Like, you know, you think you’re the best in the world, and that’s what you want to do. So he’s re-energized and excited about that opportunity.”
Cowboys OC Brian Schottenheimer said Mike McCarthy is “re-energized” about calling plays. “Quite honestly, he’s a hell of a play-caller. He’s aggressive, he’s confident. We want to play with an attacking scheme. You’re gonna see that.” pic.twitter.com/qJ5F1pxzit

The OC acknowledged the talents of the head coach calling him the best play-caller. He also added that the HC will play an attacking scheme.
“Quite honestly, he’s a hell of a play-caller. He’s aggressive; he’s confident. We want to play with an attacking scheme. You’re gonna see that.’”
How far can Mike McCarthy take the Cowboys next season?
Last season wasn’t very good for the Cowboys. The team won 12 regular-season games and also won a playoff game. However, they lost a close divisional game against the San Francisco 49ers. The team was ranked ninth in rushing yards, averaging 135.2 yards per game. The team has decided to hand over the responsibility of the offense to Mike McCarthy.
Talking about this decision, the HC said, that his goal is not to work only on the offense. Rather he is focused on making his team the no.1 in the league.
“I don’t desire to be the No. 1 offense in the league. I want to be the No. 1 team in the league with the number of wins and the championship. And if we gotta give up some production and take care of the ball better to get that, then that’s what we’ll do,” McCarthy said.
Although the coach has a lot of pressure to work on the offense, he is confident. His re-energized attitude and determination can surely help him to help the Cowboys stand out in the upcoming NFL season and win the Super Bowl championship.
