Drew Timme had a rather disappointing 2023 NBA Draft as he was not drafted by any team. Despite this setback, the 2023 West Coast Conference Player of the Year and the 3 time All-American signed his first professional contract in the NBA with the Milwaukee Bucks on Friday.
Drew is considered an exceptional talent among the rising stars of the Basketball world and it was strange for many fans of his to see him go undrafted in the 2023 NBA Draft. Ultimately this draft-draught seems to have passed and Timme was selected by the Milwaukee Bucks to play for them in the upcoming 2023 NBA Season.
Ex-Gonzaga star Drew Timme signs first NBA contract with Bucks
Seven1 Sports Agency (Drew Timme’s representative) announced this news via an Instagram post. Timme is Gonzaga Bulldogs’ all-time leading scorer with a staggering 2,307 points. He is also sixth on the list of top scorers in the NCAA tournament, Additionally, Drew has won back-to-back WCC Player of the Year awards in 2021-22 and 2022-23.

This could be an excellent chance for Drew to showcase his talents playing for the Milwaukee Bucks as they lacked a true low-post scorer. Bucks have Brook Lopez as their main-time scorer but he has more of a number 5 playstyle where he steps out of the line and scores 3-pointers. Bucks needed a low post scorer and the 6-foot-10 Texan has a good opportunity to prove himself on a professional stage.
Drew Timme played four NBA Summer League games with the Bucks
Drew played for the Milwaukee Bucks during the summer league games, he originally was signed in June to an Exhibit 10 contract. This was a minimum contract that could be converted to a two-way deal before the start of the season. The essence of the current contract of Timme with the Bucks is unknown.
During his time with the Bucks in the Summer League Squad in Las Vegas, Timmie averaged 2.5 rebounds and 4.3 points in four games. A good record for a newbie in a professional team. While during his career with the Gonzaga Bulldogs Timme averaged even higher numbers with 17.2 points and 6.7 rebounds in a four-year run with the Bulldogs. He was also the finalist for both the Naismith Trophy and the Wooden Award in his senior year.
Timmie could be a good fit for the Bucks playing alongside 15-year veteran of the game Brook Lopez who recently renewed his contract with the Bucks in July. Drew would be the third center on the Buck’s roster alongside Lopez’s brother Robin.
