Robert Helenius is a boxer of Finnish descent who has made his way up the ladder in the Heavyweight Division. He has had some big fights against people like Dillian Whyte, Deontay Wilder, and Anthony Joshua. As of now, Robert has had 37 fights among which he has won 32. “The Nordic Nightmare” is often referred to as one of the best heavyweights in boxing.
Helenius recently had a bout with Anthony Joshua which was a greatly anticipated fight among all the fans. Joshua has been taking the world of boxing by storm as well and is a two-time former unified world heavyweight champion. He has held the WBA, IBF, and WBO titles twice between 2016 and 2021.
Dillian Whyte replacement Robert Helenius tests positive in VADA test
Anthony was previously supposed to have a rematch with British heavyweight Dillian Whyte. It was after the latter failed a voluntary drug test that Robert came into the picture as a replacement for Dillian. AJ and “The Nordic Nightmare” faced off on August 12, 2023, at London’s famous O2 Arena which is a hotbed of such boxing matches.
However, it was recently revealed that Helenius had failed a pre-fight drug test ahead of his bout with Joshua. The information came from Matchroom Boxing as they were informed by the Voluntary Anti-Doping Association (VADA). VADA has informed the Matchroom Boxing and British Boxing Board of Control that an “adverse analytical finding” was discovered as a part of the random anti-doping protocol.
Anthony Joshua brutally knocked out Robert Helenius
AJ had learned from his previous fights against Andy Ruiz and Oleksandr Usyk and that was reflected in his fight against “The Nordic Nightmare”. Joshua took his sweet time along the rounds and studied his opponent’s fighting style to get closer to him inch by inch. The fight showed fans how much rebuilding Anthony had done with his fighting style.
The fight could have been a disappointment with Whyte dropping out in a week’s notice but that clearly was not the case. As the rounds proceeded, Joshua closed off Helenius’s attacks, exposed his defense, and finally landed a perfectly set-up right hand on Robert’s chin. This sent “The Nordic Nightmare” for a taste test of the canvas in the seventh round of the bout.
What’s your opinion of the bout between Joshua and Helenius? Will the recent information about failing the drug test affect the results at this point? Make sure to let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
