The wrestling world is still grieving the loss of Windham ‘Bray Wyatt’ Rotunda after his sudden demise on 24th August’23. The character work of Bray Wyatt when he debuted with The Wyatt Family was phenomenal and took WWE by storm and from the start the company seemingly identified him as good for business.
His signature entrance was special as the lights went off and he came out with a lantern in his hand with the whole arena turning into ‘fireflies’. As the other members of the family had their matches, Bray sat outside the ring on his rocking chair which was a huge part of his gimmick. Recently in a Facebook post, Mick Foley revealed the origin story of the rocking chair.
Mick Foley provides fans with Bray Wyatt origin story
The rocking chair was very iconic as it was a part of incredible promo packages and matches alike. Mick Foley revealed in a Facebook post that the incorporation of a rocking chair was influenced by a 2004 promo by Mick Foley. In the post, Mick Foley shared various core memories he made with Bray Wyatt.
He wrote, “The first time I remember meeting Bray was in either late 2011 or 2012 when he told me about this new type of “thing” he was working on in Florida Championship Wrestling. He mentioned how much he had enjoyed a promo I did in a rocking chair leading up to my big match with Randy Orton at “Backlash” in 2004 – and mentioned that he was incorporating a rocking chair into this thing he was working on.”
“The “thing” turned out to be “The Wyatt Family”, which took WWE by storm, and turned Windham Rotunda into one of the biggest stars in WWE history,” he added.
WWE continues to pay tribute with recent video
The tribute to Bray Wyatt continued with Monday Night Raw after a very emotional Smackdown on Friday which took place a day after Windham Rotunda passed away. Superstars and other WWE personnel recently featured in a video more than 30 minutes long that the official WWE channel posted.
In the video, the featured personnel shared the stories they had with Bray Wyatt portraying how good of a human being he was.
