Last Tuesday, all the NFL teams cut short their rosters to 53 players. The Los Angeles Rams did the same and they chose six wide receivers including Cooper Kupp. Cooper, who was named the MVP of Super Bowl LVI, is considered one of the best wide receivers in the NFL.
Unfortunately, last season the 30-year-old ended early from an ankle sprain and was placed on the Injured Reserve list. This season he joined the training camp completely healed from his ankle injury but ended up getting a hamstring injury. The recent update on his injury has saddened the NFL community.
Rams HC Sean McVay drops sad Cooper Kupp Injury update
The head coach of the Rams, Sean McVay recently talked to the media sharing the injury update of Cooper Kupp. The HC shared that the hamstring injury of the wide receiver is serious which can be considered a setback.
“We’re kind of taking it day-by-day with him,” HC said. “I would probably call it a setback.”

When the HC was asked about the return of the wide receiver, he stated that the team is focusing on his health, so he can perform well in the games he plays.
“There’s a difference between return to play and return to performance. We want return to performance for Cooper Kupp.”
McVay highlighted the importance of Cooper for the team and emphasized that the team will keep monitoring the situation and bring back the wide receiver when he is in his best health.
“We know how special a player, special of a person, and so we want to make sure we are smart with that and getting him back to feeling like the Cooper Kupp we all know and that he’s able to play the way that he’s capable of, whenever that is. Whether that is Sept. 10th or not, we’ll continue to monitor that and control what we can control.”
Cooper Kupp himself shed light on his injury on Aug 24 stating that he’ll try to return for Week 1 of the regular season but that seems difficult.
“Being able to be out there and see things live and going through those reps and feeling them out from day one to two to three to four now, the game just slows down,” the wide receiver said.
He shared that it would be challenging for him to play in Week 1 as he couldn’t participate in the preseason games and practices because of his injury.
“So that’s why I’m saying, going out there Week 1 would be tough not having that opportunity to see those reps… So, [I] feel good about what kind of path we’re on now.”
After the recent update on his injury, it is now confirmed that the 30-year-old will not be able to play in Week 1 of the regular season. The head coach stated that Cooper will not be able to return as long as he’s able to perform well, so fans can wish for the fast recovery of the wide receiver so he can join his teammates on the field soon.
