Transfer News: Al Ittihad reportedly seeking to reunite Karim Benzema with former teammate Sergio Ramos amid heavy interest from Besiktas

Legendary defender Sergio Ramos is being sought by many clubs after the Spaniard left Paris Saint Germain on a free transfer this summer. Ramos had left the French club over two months ago, but his future is still uncertain. A lack of interest from top clubs in the 37-year-old could be a reason. As the defender previously played for Real Madrid for a long spell, he may not want to downgrade.

However, a lot of other clubs are looking to gain his services, as he has lots of experience with him. Already some good offers have come in for Ramos, with very attractive financial offers, especially one from Saudi Arabia. And, despite the transfer window already closing, clubs still have a chance to go after free agents.

Al Ittihad offer two-deal to Sergio Ramos

Renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano unleashed a news report that said that Saudi Arabian club Al-Ittihad has now targeted the defender. There have been many months of speculation that the Spaniard will be the next to join the recent exodus to the Arab country.

Al Ittihad, the current Saudi league champions, have already bagged a former Real Madrid teammate of Sergio Ramos, Karim Benzema, and even French superstar N’Golo Kante. They will offer him a two-year deal, with a special clause included which will allow Ramos to exit the contract anytime. The amount of money offered has still not been revealed and are waiting on a decision from the Spaniard.

Ramos may want to join Ittihad considering the high level of competition there in recent days. Benzema spent 12 years with Ramos at Madrid, where they won a lot of trophies, including 4 Champions League trophies. Benzema left Madrid this summer for Saudi, while Ramos had left in 2021 to join PSG.

Cristiano Ronaldo, also a former teammate of Ramos at Madrid, plays for Al Nassr, a direct rival to Al Ittihad. This could also make him want to move to the growing league.

Besiktas also looking to bring in Ramos

Turkish clubs were also heavily interested in Sergio Ramos since the beginning of the transfer window. Both Turkish outfits Galatasaray and Besiktas are interested in the player, though it is the latter that is more advanced in talks. Initially, Besiktas had rejected Ramos entirely due to his massive wage demands, which they couldn’t afford.

But, later, they offered him an €8m per year deal which the former Madrid captain has yet to respond to. The deal will be valid until September 4, after which Besiktas will walk away from the deal. It is highly unlikely Sergio Ramos will accept the deal, considering the low salary and other better offers he has received.

The following days will show where Sergio Ramos decides to next play, with offers from the MLS and even Spain also being on the table. Where do you want to see Ramos play in the next season? Make sure to let us know in the comments.
