Christos Giagos and Terrence Mitchell brought a unique twist to their fights by using pro wrestling themes as their walkout songs at Noche UFC. Giagos used Hulk Hogan’s iconic theme, “Real American,” and Mitchell chose CM Punk’s entrance music, “Cult of Personality,” as walkout music for Noche UFC.
Mitchell’s corner even heightened the pro wrestling atmosphere by shouting “It’s clobbering time.” The excitement generated by their entrances didn’t translate into success inside the octagon. Giagos fell to a second-round submission by Daniel Zellhuber while Mitchell was TKOed by 18-year-old Raul Rosas Jr.
Christos Giagos used Hulk Hogan’s “Real American”
Daniel Zellhuber defeated Christos Giagos with a rear naked choke in the second to his disappointment. Giagos was doing well in the bout but Zellhuber latched onto the choke pretty quick forcing a quick tap.
Giagos, who walked out to the WWE star Hulk Hogan’s theme, “Real American,” was visibly disappointed. His pro-wrestling-inspired walkout received good reviews on social media, but the crowd, being pro-Mexican, was always going to support the Mexican fighter.
Giagos was coming off a TKO victory over Rick Glenn at UFC Fight Night: Pavlovich vs. Blaydes. “The Spartan” trains under the tutelage of Henri Hooft at Killcliff MMA.
Mitchell replicated CM Punk’s UFC performance after “Cult Of Personality” walkout
Terrence Mitchell walked out to CM Punk’s WWE walkout song and ironically he met the same fate of CM Punk on his UFC debut. CM Punk made his debut at UFC 203 against Mickey Gall and also lost the fight via rear naked choke in the very first round.
Mitchell fought the 18-year-old Raul Rosas Jr. in an action-packed fight at Noche UFC that saw Rosas drop Mitchell and followed it up with ground and pound. “Terr Bear’s” corner was seen yelling “It’s clobbering time” in reference to CM Punk’s WWE persona.
CM Punk is the ring name of Phillip Jack Brooks. Brooks fought for the second and last time in the UFC 225. The fight ended in a unanimous decision loss but it was later changed to no contest after his opponent tested positive for Marijuana.
UFC and WWE merger, where the two companies could merge to form the publicly traded company, TKO might be the reason for the choice of walkout. The walkout songs injected a dose of pro wrestling flair into the UFC event. What do you think of the choice of walkout music at Noche UFC? Comment below!
