The ongoing rift between Manchester United boss Eric Ten Hag and Jadon Sancho only seems to worsen over time. The coach has once again publicly criticized Sancho amid the tension inside the club. The winger had previously been excluded from all first-team facilities due to his social media remarks about the Dutchman following his absence from the squad.
Sancho is currently training and dining with academy players while still suspended from the senior team. The 23-year-old has declined to offer an apology to the manager which seemingly made matters worse. Following the Crystal Palace match, Ten Hag commented on his situation at the club.
Erik ten Hag responds to Jadon Sancho’s return
Manchester United hosted Crystal Palace for the Carabao Cup third-round fixture on Tuesday. They secured a convincing 3-0 victory at home, with Garnacho, Casemiro, and Antony Martial finding the back of the net for the home side.
Following the win, Ten Hag was asked about Sancho’s situation, and he made his stance clear, stating that the matter was solely up to the player and that he preferred not to discuss the unavailable players.
Ten Hag responded, “I don’t know, it’s up to him. I don’t comment on players who are not available”, when asked about the prospects of Sancho rejoining the team post-match.
There appears to be no likelihood of his return to the first team unless he complies with the club’s and teammates’ requests to offers a public apology.
Recently, the Professional Footballers Association (PFA), a union representing footballers, extended their support to both Jadon Sancho and Ten Hag in an attempt to resolve their disagreement.
Manchester United players urge Sancho to apologiz
Amid the ongoing rift with Ten Hag, the 23-year-old deactivated his Instagram account yesterday. Reportedly, Jadon Sancho’s England teammates, including Marcus Rashford, Harry Maguire, and Luke Shaw, have encouraged Sancho to apologize in an effort to resolve the fallout with the boss.
Jadon’s teammates have also urged him to extend an apology to the boss and resolve the issue. They sympathize with him and hope for a resolution through an apology. The forward had previously declined to apologize when requested by the club, which led to his suspension.
A prompt resolution appears unlikely unless Jadon Sancho takes the initiative to apologize to Ten Hag. If the situation doesn’t improve, there’s the possibility that Sancho might depart from the club during the upcoming January transfer window, possibly in a cut-price deal.
