LA Knight’s rise to the top of WWE has been nothing short of astonishing. Merchandise sales have been at an all-time high with The Megastar being on the top of the list of merchandise numbers, beating the likes of Cody Rhodes and John Cena.
He teamed up with John Cena at Fastlane to face The Bloodline in what was a match of fan service to send the crowd home happy. As the duo came out on top, there were many takeaways from the post-Fastlane press conference.
LA Knight takes up role of driving instructor
LA Knight was shown coming to the arena earlier in the event in a SlimJim-sponsored car, which he won after winning the Battle Royale powered by SlimJim at SummerSlam. This reminded the WWE Universe of John Cena’s entrance as he revved up the car and went through the glass at WrestleMania 23. LA Knight’s entrance was very fitting of The Megastar and it reinforces the fact that WWE has a lot of trust in him moving forward.
There have been pictures circulating around the internet of The Megastar teaching someone how to drive backstage at Fastlane. One of the employees posted a story on Instagram stating that his fiance couldn’t figure out how to throw the car into reverse. WWE can run with this gimmick of “LA Knight – Driver Instructor by the day and Megastar by the night”.
LA Knight, Cena joke about being undefeated
The WWE Fastlane media scrum was one of the most entertaining press conferences to ever take place, with a slightly drunk Jey Uso and Cody Rhodes interacting with the media panel, leading to some hilarious moments. John Cena and LA Knight were also asked questions during the press conference with the obvious topic being the extent of John Cena’s current run in the WWE.
It’s been fantastic to see John Cena have an extended run in the WWE. His mannerisms while giving LA Knight the spotlight have been great to watch. Seeing a 46-year-old Cena delivering a crossbody to Jimmy Uso and rolling back the years was very fun to watch. He’ll always be a huge draw with record-breaking attendance at Fastlane due to his presence.
During the press conference, the duo pointed out the fact that they are still undefeated, teasing a potential team-up again in the future. But it’ll be interesting to see whether WWE is willing to put the tag-team titles on Cena due to his part-time schedule. Nonetheless, wrestling fans should relish the time John Cena is appearing on weekly television as he’s in the final innings of a long and illustrious career, making a significant impact in 3 different decades.
