The Denver Nuggets defeated the Los Angeles Lakers in their season opener, giving them a flashback of last season’s Western Conference finals. The Nuggets seemed as strong as they had been last season and outshined the Lakers by a score of 119-107.
Lakers legend Magic Johnson gave his take on the way the Nuggets played, noting that they will be “very tough” to defeat in the postseason. This might sound like an obvious take for many fans who have witnessed what the Nuggets are capable of. But still, winning a championship back-to-back is not a child’s play, even for a team as strong as the Nuggets.

Magic Johnson praised the Nuggets coach Michael Malone for his contribution to the team’s success. “Coach Michael Malone is the best coach in the NBA on playing to his player’s strengths. He has Aaron Gordon playing the best basketball I’ve ever seen him play, continuing last year’s Playoffs run!”, Johnson exclaimed. As for Jokic and Murray, Johnson admitted that their pick-and-roll combo stands above all others in the NBA.
In the recent game against the Lakers, Jokic had a big night and scored 29 points. Just like always, he dominated in the paint, made correct passes and involved all of his teammates in the game.
“The Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray pick-and-roll combination is the best in the entire league! They can do everything off the pick: shoot, pass, dribble, and drive,” the Lakers legend added.
The Nuggets will be a tough team to defeat this season. All opponent teams will have to come up with their unique strategy to beat them.
