Days after cheering on South African rugby team, Roger Federer joins in on the celebration miles apart

Roger Federer has been a vocal supporter of the South African rugby team ever since the SpringBoks went on a stellar run in the recently concluded Rugby World Cup, where they emerged champions after beating the All Blacks in a nerve-wracking final.

Federer, whose South African heritage has been well documented, has added to the glitz, glamour and sporting support for the men in green after the South African cricket team had also championed their national counterparts’ success. Now, the Swiss maestro has joined in on the SpringBoks’ celebrations from the comfort of his home in Switzerland.

The SpringBoks won their fourth World Cup title by fighting off a fierce comeback from the All Blacks to win 12-11. Their victory set off celebrations from Paris to Johannesburg and fervent fans back at home eagerly awaited their national team’s arrival from France to celebrate the momentous victory.

As the SpringBoks marched on their victory tour through the streets of South Africa, several fans gathered to voice their approval of the team’s success by engaging in vocal jubilation. Roger Federer managed to join the fan parade through social media by going on a live Instagram chat with the SpringBoks.

The 20-time grand slam champion was all smiles in the video but was unable to voice his own support amidst loud celebrations from the fans present. However, viewers got to see the Swiss engage in some camaraderie with the SA players by smiling and raising their thumbs up to captain Siya Kolisi.

Roger Federer was present in the stadium during the World Cup final and met the players after the final whistle in the locker room, but had to fly back to Switzerland to take part in a sporting event, where he was the biggest star to grace the event.

Federer joins Sporthilfe Super 10 Kampf 2023

Roger Federer joined the Sporthilfe Super 10 Kamph 2023 and was met by over 12,000 eager Swiss fans who blew the roof with shrieks of joy when the 42-year-old made his way to the centre.

The Sporthilfe event is a gymnastics and athletics meet for Switzerland’s athletes and their national hero, and Swiss legend Federer was the ideal candidate to make an appearance at the event.

In his post-retirement life, Federer has not shied away from the sporting world. He still continues to maintain a strong relationship with fellow tennis players, as evidenced by his appearance at the Laver Cup, and is also extending his support for non-tennis sports, as seen by his support of the SpringBoks and the Sporthilfe Super 10 Kampf.

Roger Federer has hinted at a possibility of becoming a captain for Team Europe in the Laver Cup in the future, but for now the Swiss legend’s time is filled with appearances, interviews, home life and entrepreneurial ventures.
