The Saudi Pro League introduced itself to the world when they signed football legend and all-time top scorer Cristiano Ronaldo from Manchester United in the winter market for 2023. It seems like after Cristiano Ronaldo, Bruno Fernandes may also be making a move to the Middle East to join his former club teammate and compatriot.
Since Cristiano Ronaldo joined the Saudi Pro League, many players have followed in his footsteps and transferred there. Former Manchester City player Riyad Mahrez, Chelsea’s N’Golo Kante, and Real Madrid striker Karim Benzemea are some of the few big names that were lured away by the Saudi Pro League’s lucrative offers, and now Red Devils captain Bruno Fernandes might be next in line.
Bruno Fernandes attracts Saudi interest
There is no doubt that Bruno Fernandes is a great player. The midfielder has a lot of impact on his team and has also played a crucial role for his club on a lot of occasions. After joining the Red Devils in the winter market of 2020, Bruno has become an important part of Erik Ten Hag’s squad. In the 200 appearances he has made for his club, the Portuguese has scored 67 goals.

This exceptional performance by Bruno Fernandes has now caught the eye of the Middle Eastern clubs that are trying to sign him. Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF), which controls majority stakes in four of the country’s biggest clubs, namely Al Nassr, Al Hilal, Al Ittihad, and Al Ahli, is set to hold talks with the player for his future move, so we may see the United captain playing in the same league as his former club teammate Cristiano Ronaldo.
David De Gea claps back at haters after Fernandes heroics
Manchester United faced Fulham on November 4 in a Premier League Round 11 match in an away game. Though the Red Devils enjoyed most of the possession, they were having a hard time finding the back of the net until their captain came in to save them in the dying minute of the game.
In extra time, Bruno Fernandes got the ball in front of the goal, which the Portuguese fired into the bottom corner, earning his team a last-minute victory and giving them an extra three points. After the match, Bruno posted an image on his Instagram with the caption “United”. Former club goalkeeper David De Gea commented on the post, and the Spaniard’s response has shut up the fans. Under the post, De Gea wrote, “You are not the right captain,” with a mouth-zipped emoji hinting that the haters need to shut up now.
