The wrestling world values The Undertaker for his hard work, longevity in the business, and contributions to it. His risk-taking attitude has consistently earned praise from fans. Despite widespread fame, some claim their childhoods were ruined because of him.
After carefully guarding his reputation for 30 years as one of wrestling’s greatest personalities, the Hall of Famer retired in November 2020. He referenced this on his Six Feet Under podcast, stating that in interviews out of character, people accuse him of ruining their childhood.
The Undertaker discusses accusations of ruining people’s childhood
The Deadman was well-known for his distinct gimmick in the professional wrestling industry. He stayed in character throughout his career and never lost his aura of mystery. Many of his followers are thrilled to hear more about him after his retirement.
“There are people out there that are still mad at me,” he said on a recent Patreon podcast. He worked as an advisor in WWE when Vince McMahon wanted.
To maintain kayfabe during his prime, The Deadman never gave any interviews. The Hall of Famer mentioned on an episode of the Six Feet Under podcast that he has been accused of harming people’s childhoods due to his extensive interview schedule.
He noted, “There are people out there that are still mad at me. There are a ton of people who love the fact that I’m talking and doing the 1 Deadman Show and Six Feet Under, but there are still a large group of people who are really upset with me because I don’t talk about taking souls and I’ve kind of opened up, to the point where people have accused me of ruining their childhood.”
The Deadman predicts the outcome of his dream match
The Undertaker gave up his body and devoted thirty years to the sport. Despite his efforts, he and Sting were never really compatible. He now thinks he would have won easily had they really played against each other. WCW’s Sting and WWE’s The Undertaker both had lasting impacts on wrestling throughout their respective companies’ golden eras.
For nearly twenty years, wrestling fans have wished that The Undertaker would finally confront Sting in a match. When Sting signed with WWE in 2014, fans’ expectations for the dream showdown skyrocketed. It’s still one of the greatest “what if” scenarios in the history of wrestling.
