‘There is no concern’: Erik Ten Hag remains unfazed by the growing pressure on him in Manchester United’s turbulent season

Despite Erik ten Hag and Manchester United’s poor run of form this season, the United boss seems to be confident of keeping his job for some time. United finished last in their Champions League group, resulting in their premature elimination from the competition, and currently find themselves at sixth in the league, six points off the top four.

However, the situation United are in does not seem to move Erik ten Hag, as the Dutch manager remains unfazed by the noise surrounding him. Manchester United have a hectic and tough line of fixtures ahead of them, starting with Liverpool on Sunday, which could decide ten Hag’s fate come the end of December.

Erik Ten Hag remains unfazed despite United’s poor form

Erik ten Hag has been facing a lot of heat recently, with fans asking for the manager to be sacked after a horrific Champions League campaign and a lackluster performance against Bournemouth. However, he received some much needed support from club legend Gary Neville that might help his confidence.

Erik ten Hag remains confident and unbothered about the speculations of him being sacked and has said that “there is no concern” regarding his job. Ten Hag also mentioned that he has full support of the higher authorities, and his focus lies on improving the on-field aspect of the team.

When asked about support from the board during the pre-match press conference, ten Hag stated, “I feel that. They tell me. That’s fine and that is OK. I am focusing on the process, I am focusing on making this team play better and making the individuals play better”.

Ten Hag remains calm during the turbulence as he looks forward to the process of improving the backroom and the players, which started with United’s consideration of overhauling the medical team.

Manchester United’s last Anfield win came in 2016

Both Manchester United and Liverpool had midweeks to forget, however, both teams have had contrasting seasons. While Liverpool sit at the top of the Premier League, United are crawling for European football.

United’s recent outings in Anfield have been very forgetful, with their 7-0 thrashing in the hands of the Merseyside Reds topping all humiliations. United have not won in their last eight matches at Anfield, losing five and drawing three, with their last win coming in January 2016.

United’s problems seem never-ending this season, as they travel to face a ruthless Liverpool without the services of eleven first-team players, namely Anthony Martial, Victor Lindelof, Harry Maguire, Casemiro, Tyler Malacia, Lisandro Martinez, Amad Diallo, Christian Eriksen, and Mason Mount. Captain Bruno Fernandes will also miss the game due to suspension
