In the midst of an indefinite suspension shadowing Golden State Warriors’ veteran star forward Draymond Green, voices from the basketball community are rising, and none louder than that of former Miami Heat stalwart, Udonis Haslem.
The seasoned player, with over two decades of NBA experience, has weighed in on Green’s recent on-court antics, branding him as “crazy smart” for picking fights with players he deems helpless.
Udonis Haslem talks on Draymond Green’s suspension
Haslem’s candid commentary comes on the heels of Green’s suspension for striking Phoenix Suns center Jusuf Nurkic in the face, marking the third ejection for the four-time NBA champion this season.
With an air of both respect and disapproval, Haslem delves into the strategic aspect of Green’s actions, suggesting that the physical forward deliberately targets players unlikely to retaliate.
Additionally, he’s disappointed in his fellow veteran since he should be the one teaching the younger players.
“Jordan Poole? Come on, man, a young fella. At the end of the day, we’re here to guide these young fellas in the right direction” Haslem continues to add.
However, Green’s not doing what the 43-year-old wants. Dray’s feud with Poole eventually prompted the Dubs to trade the youngster to the Wizards.
“They’re going to make mistakes, they’re going to say crazy s–t, but they’re young. Can you imagine me swinging on Herro?”, Haslem came in defense of younger players like Poole.
Draymond Green reportedly joined counseling
In the wake of his indefinite suspension from the NBA for striking Phoenix Suns center Jusuf Nurkic, Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green has embarked on a journey of self-improvement.
The suspension is expected to keep Green out of action for at least the next three weeks, signifying a period of reflection and rehabilitation for the four-time NBA champion.
The indefinite suspension reflects the NBA’s consideration of Green’s “repeated history of unsportsmanlike acts,” highlighting the need for intervention to ensure a more measured and controlled approach in future on-court engagements.
