Tyron Woodley still believes his fighting skills are enough to make him rise again in the fighting world. After finishing his contract with the UFC in 2021, the former UFC champion got himself into a different dungeon of fighting. There he faced Jake Paul twice and lost both times against the Youtuber-turned-boxer.
The last loss against Jake Paul was more devastating because the big gloves did more damage than the MMA gloves to Woodley’s career. It was Paul’s one punch blow that put silence on many of Woodley’s supporters. Now the ex-UFC champ addressed the lingering questions regarding the authenticity of the bout.

After the second match-up between Jake Paul and Tyron Woodley, many people from the community started to question whether the bout was just staged to make money. Woodley is already looking for the third matchup to shut down all the hate against him. But the UFC’s former light heavyweight champion first wants to show what the past two bouts were all about.
At the Jaxxon Podcast, Quinton RampageJackson inquired about the Jake Paul and Tyron Woodley match-up. He asked Woodley if the fight was actually set up from his view.
Woodley clarified that he wasn’t earning that much in MMA, but in boxing, he did a lot. If he wanted it, he would have called off the career after winning the bout. According to Woodley, it can’t be a setup for a fighter to get paid for receiving a knockout from a newcomer.
“A lot of people wonder that, but think about this: if I say Rampage, I’m going to pay you two million bucks right that this dude beat you for what you’re going to do, you’re going to feel disrespected. Number one, yeah, right, that ain’t enough money. Yeah, but I got paid in the Jake fights. For me to do that, I gotta be willing to walk away for good.”
Later in the same podcast, Woodley did explain that if he wanted, he would have retired after both fights, but he is still hungry to test his limits in the cage and boxing ring.
