Cristiano Ronaldo has always been about achieving goals and completing targets, and it looks like he has another insane objective recorded in his to-do list. Portugal manager Roberto Martinez has recently hinted in an interview that Ronaldo will be with the national team for quite some time.

Roberto Martinez has claimed that Ronaldo wishes to complete 250 appearances for Portugal, after he recently became the first ever footballer to play 200 matches for their country.

In a recent interview with Freddie Ljunjberg, Martinez revealed, “He was very close to 200 caps, something no other player had achieved before. Of course, the conversation we had is private, but I can reveal one of the things he told me. [I asked him] If reaching 200 caps would interest you and he told me: “250 interests me.” 

Martinez recently praised Ronaldo’s attitude towards his national team and hailed his decision to keep fighting and not stepping away.

Ronaldo ends 2023 on the top of scoring charts

Cristiano Ronaldo has most definitely carried his scoring boots from Europe to the Asian Confederation, as the Portuguese superstar continues to boost Al Nassr towards trophies along with his pivotal presence in the national team.

The Al Nassr forward tops the goalscoring charts for the year 2023, with 53 goals for club and country. Ronaldo is presently topping the Saudi Pro League goalscoring tally after an impressive season that also saw him finish as the UEFA Euro 2024 Qualifiers’ top goal scorer.

Ronaldo leads the pack with 53 goals in all competitions, with Harry Kane and Kylian Mbappe just behind him with 52 goals each. Erling Haaland finishes fourth after netting 50 times for club and country.
