“Let there be wings”: Wingstop accepts NBA fans request after Pistons snap 28-match winless streak

The Detroit Pistons finally returned to winning ways as they ended their 28-game winless streak after beating the Toronto Raptors in Detroit earlier today.

The Pistons, led by young phenomenon Cade Cunningham, marched to their first win in 29 games and let out a huge sigh of relief as they finally got a win in their records for the season. A task which seemed improbable to achieve, this was the team’s first win since October 28, 2023

Under Cade Cunningham’s offensive dominance, the Detroit Pistons gained a hard-fought victory against the Raptors, who had no option but to end up being the first team to lose to the Pistons, who have been beyond awful this season.

Fueled by the anger and frustrations of the fans at home, the young core from the Pistons stepped up in their last game of the year to deliver for their loyal home crowd.

Young superstar Cade Cunningham did not fail to deliver as he spearheaded the Pistons victory. Shooting 45% from the field and scoring all 10 of his free throws, the 22-year-old youngster scored 30. The core of the Pistons really pulled all the strings this game, with all five starters scoring in double digits. Out of the 10 players that played for the Pistons, 6 players ended the night with double figures, which helped them move past the team from Canada.

The Pistons scoring was met with great resilience from Pascal Siakam and Dennis Schröder, who both had outstanding nights in a losing cause, scoring 35 and 30, respectively. The lack of a good supporting cast was quite evident from the stat sheet itself, as only 4 of the 9 players who played for the Raptors ended with double figures.

With Schröder and Siakam’s mesmerizing scoring, the Raptors seemed convinced that a win was assured. However, the Pistons had a different plan for the night as they played with a sense of urgency to grab a massive win—a win for the thousands of supporters who supported their team through thick and thin.

The Detroit fans who seemingly wanted the Pistons to be sold following their abysmal losses may now see a ray of hope, following their team’s clutch victory against the Raptors.

Wingstop aims to keep their promise and give out free wings

Wingstop Inc., an American food chain that primarily sells wings, had announced earlier this year that they would provide free wings for the people following every Pistons’ win, an incentive which would also encourage the players to fight for victories as it would feed the hungry.

The promotional campaign, which seemed to fail at the beginning considering the dreadful and deplorable performances of the squad has to returned from the dust following the Pistons’ first win in 29 games.

NBA fans flooded Twitter with memes and tweets hoping to remind the food chain about the promotion in an aim to avail the scrumptious wings. The food chain did not waste any moment to respond to tweets and coined a remarkable phrase in a tweet which read, ‘Let there be wings’.

Fans suggested that Wingstop would end up bankrupt with the whole of Detroit heading to Wingstop location in order to avail the offer.

A tweet envisioning how the city of Detroit would celebrate the Pistons’ famous victory.

For every Detroit Pistons win, fans can avail five free wings and this is the first victory of the squad since the 28th of October, the perfect New Year’s Eve delight for many.

Under youthful vision of Cade Cunningham and the veteran’s IQ of Bojan Bogdanovic, the Pistons will look to continue their return to the win columns with further victories through the NBA season next year.
