When discussing the key elements in a new deal, Ja’Marr Chase indicated a preference for upfront money, highlighting the importance of this aspect in the contract negotiation process.

“Really probably just upfront (money),” the WR said

When asked about the possibility of guaranteed money in the second year of the deal, similar to Joe Burrow’s extension, Chase responded with a playful comment, suggesting the inquiry goes too far and adding a touch of humor.

“I don’t know, you’re going a little too far now, buddy. Gave you a little spice. Don’t take all of it.”

Despite the Bengals facing challenges and missing the playoffs, Ja’Marr Chase, who had an online clash with Patrick Mahomes had an outstanding season, recording 1197 yards on 96 receptions. With one game left, the WR has the opportunity to achieve his first 100-reception season in his career, showcasing his success even in a challenging team season.

Ja’Marr Chase provides update on Tee Higgins’ return

Tee Higgins, after playing injured in last week’s loss, did not practice for most of the following week, raising concerns about his health. Higgins is also approaching free agency, indicating that his contract with the Bengals is set to expire.

With Higgins being a free agent, there’s speculation on whether the recent game might have been his last with the team. Ja’Marr Chase was asked if he would consider taking less money in his contract negotiations to facilitate re-signing Tee Higgins.

Chase responded to the question by stating that it was a good question and suggesting that the decision would depend on how much he is taking and where the adjustment might come from, indicating a thoughtful approach to the team’s financial dynamics.

“That’s a good question. Who knows? It depends how much I’m taking.”

Chase further elaborated that if he were to make adjustments, it might not necessarily be a direct cut from his earnings, hinting that the compensation could come from other areas within the team’s financial structure.

“It depends at the end of the day. Because I might not really be taking a cut. it might come from somewhere else.”

His comments hinted that the team might be looking for ways to re-sign Tee Higgins. The future of both Higgins and Chase is uncertain for now. It all depends on how the team will handle the situation and whether they will prefer to keep Chase only or find some other way to keep both of them.
