One of the most talked-about transfer rumours is that of Kylian Mbappe’s to Real Madrid. The two parties have been going at it since France won the World Cup back in 2018.
Every season, there seems to be a new twist in their story, and this season is not any different, as reports have yet again emerged of Mbappe being interested in a sensational shift to Real Madrid.
Kylian Mbappe reportedly intends to make a decision on his future
Kylian Mbappe’s decision on his future is imminent, as the 24-year-old Frenchman is out of contract in the summer of 2024. Real Madrid came very close to transferring him in summer 2023, but he eventually signed an extension with PSG, keeping him at the club and netting him 80 million euros worth of loyalty bonuses.
Real Madrid and PSG are on tenterhooks awaiting the outcome of the decision, although for the La Liga side, the signing of Kylian Mbappe is no longer the high priority it was two seasons ago, with Endrick, Bellingham and Vinicius Jr. all flourishing at the Santiago Bernabéu. On top of that, Real Madrid are also linked with Manchester City superstar Erling Haaland.
Mbappe will find himself in a similar situation again, as his contract is to run out this summer, and with surmounting interest from Los Blancos, we might be set for another twist in their story.
The Frenchman, who is supposed to disclose his final decision before PSG play their Champions League round of 16 match against Spanish team Real Sociedad, will have to choose between his current club and Real Madrid soon. PSG have offered Mbappe a new contract, which will keep him at the club until 2027.
La Liga president reveals 50% chance Kylian Mbappe joins Real Madrid
Javier Tebas, president of La Liga, recently said in an interview that “there is a 50% chance” that Mbappe will join Real Madrid in the summer. He went on to suggest that Real Madrid president Florentino Perez “does not lose at anything.”
Tebas said, “It’s a personal opinion. 26-year-old player…PSG seems not [that he will stay]. It will depend on Real Madrid, the president and what he is willing to bet on. Real Madrid must think that the arrival of [Jude] Bellingham has made him already have a star, Vinicius [Junior] is another. If the player wants to go to Madrid…more than 50% [he will go].”
