Justin Fields trade rumor: potential deal between Bears and Steelers comes to surface for the QB

The quarterback of the Chicago Bears, Justin Fields’s future with the team is uncertain as he is entering the final year of his rookie contract. For the 2024 NFL draft, the Bears have the No. 1 pick and reportedly, they will use that pick to draft USC QB Caleb Williams.

If that is the case, then the team will have to trade Justin Fields, and the Pittsburgh Steelers are emerging as the favorite landing spots for the QB.

Justin Fields reportedly linked with Steelers

The Pittsburgh Steelers are looking for another quarterback as the team again ended the season without making it to the playoffs. To end that draught, the HC of the team, Mike Tomlin, will consider adding a new QB, potentially a third-year quarterback.

Justin Fields, who used to be considered a Jalen Hurts for the Bears, has a good relationship with Mike Tomlin, as the coach once declared that he is a fan of the rookie QB.ย

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported on Monday that the Steelers are looking to sign a veteran quarterback in the offseason and according to him, Justin Fields can be a perfect fit.

“Pittsburgh is gonna go out and get another Quarterback. Keep in mind that Mike Tomlin is a big fan of Justin Fields,” Schefter said. โ€œA quarterback decision is something Pittsburgh will have to make soon.”

The expected trade deal will be that the Steelers receive Justin Fields as the No. 111 pick in the fourth round and in return, the Bears get the No. 20 pick in the first round.

The Pittsburgh Steelers have also parted ways with backup quarterback Mitch Trubisky, making space for a new quarterback. All these odds indicate that the Steelers will be the final destination for Justin Fields.ย

Patriots, Falcons also linked with Bears QB

Apart from the Steelers, there are two more teams that Justin Fields can consider, the Patriots and the Falcons.

The New England Patriots are grappling with QB problems and are in immediate need of a new and talented QB. There are concerns that the top projected quarterbacks might be off the board before New England’s pick. The Bleacher Report suggested that the Patriots could trade for Justin Fields to secure a top quarterback.

“New England would give itself a ton of leverage inside the top three for teams looking to trade up to take a signal-caller themselves. And thus, potentially generating more picks while still sitting comfortably enough to select Ohio State WR Marvin Harrison Jr. to pair with Fields.”

Acquiring Fields, who earned praise from King James, could give the Patriots leverage in the draft and allow them to select other top prospects.

The Atlanta Falcons, under new head coach Raheem Morris, are also looking for a quarterback to lead them in the upcoming season.

They hold the No. 8 overall pick in the draft but might miss out on top signal-callers. With the top three picks likely focused on quarterbacks, trading up might be challenging for the Falcons.

Justin Fields is seen as a viable option for the Falcons, given his potential availability and connections to the team. The QB’s promising performance towards the end of the previous season, despite an injury has increased his value in the market.

While there are multiple teams showing interest in the QB, the final decision will be on Justin Fields. He will likely choose a team after considering multiple factors, including contract details and his potential to succeed in the NFL.
