The record breaking Madridista has taken over La Liga with a storm. After a brilliant spell in Dortmund, Jude Bellingham made his transfer to Real Madrid in the starting of the current season and since then he has been in magnificent form for the team in White.
Bellingham has been the main man for Real Madrid right from the beginning of the season. Despite playing as a midfielder, he has been scoring goals consistently and has been breaking records set by legends of the game. However, after the recent 2-game suspension setback faced by Jude, it would be a challenging task for Real Madrid and Ancelotti to cope up with this situation.
Why did La Liga fine and suspend Jude Bellingham?
On Wednesday, it was made official that Jude Bellingham has been suspended for two games for dissent/inconsiderate behavior towards a referee during the game between Valencia and Real Madrid. Fans have been left baffled after this announcement, as they believed that they were ‘robbed’ during the last match. Now, with their main player sidelined for the next two games, frustrations have only grown among the supporters.
The match between Valencia and Real Madrid on Sunday was packed with drama, making headlines. In the closing stages of the game, Real Madrid believed they had secured victory with a superb header by Jude. However, their celebrations were cut short as the goal was disallowed. Referee Gil Manzano had blown the full-time whistle just 2 seconds before the ball made contact with Jude’s head. This controversial decision sparked protests from players, who surrounded the referee and voiced their disbelief at the call.
In this massive altercation, Jude was shown a controversial red card. Gil Manzano also shed light on his decision as he stated that he gave Jude a red card for excessive expulsion of, “its a fu*** goal”.
The decision regarding Jude’s red card was pending as the match reports were being reviewed and on Wednesday it was confirmed that Jude Bellingham would be suffering a two-match ban and €660 fine while an additional €700 fine was imposed on the club.
Real Madrid wants to appeal Jude Bellingham red card decision
After the decision made by the La Liga authorities, Jude Bellingham is set to miss the next two matches for the Los Blancos. However, the reports claim that Real Madrid is seeking to file an appeal against the decision made by La Liga.
As per the reports, the Spanish Football Federation stated that the punishment has been given over Jude’s gesture of “contempt or disregard” towards Manzano. The match referee on his match report suggested, “In minute 999 (sic), the player (5) Bellingham, Jude Victor William, was sent off for the following motive: After the end of the game and while still on the pitch, he came running over to me in an aggressive way shouting, repeatedly: ‘It’s a f*****g goal’.”
Carlo Ancelotti also seemed to be disappointed in the post-match interview by the decision made by referees as he felt it was unfair to give the red card. He said, “He (Bellingham) didn’t say anything insulting. It was frustrating.” The hierarchy of Real Madrid believes that the referee had made an “error” in his decision and thus will be appealing to the La Liga authorities.
The Madrid star, who just returned from injury, will again be seen on the sidelines as he serves a two-match ban. This means he will miss the match against Celta Vigo and Osasuna. However, if the appeal is successful, the ban can be lifted, and Jude could be back in action sooner than expected.
This setback has put the team in white in the back foot, but Real Madrid is known as the Miraculous club so it would be intriguing to see how Don Carlo will be able to address this situation.
