Dwayne Johnson is one of the most influential personalities in sports, entertainment, and politics, recognized all over the world by his in-ring name, ‘The Rock’. However, Sean Strickland is not a fan of the future WWE Hall of Famer.
Recently, an old footage of Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson caught the former UFC middleweight champion Sean Strickland’s attention. The Instagram post was uploaded by @countryreble and it displayed The Rock in a cowboy hat, driving a truck to make an appearance on WWE SmackDown. In the comments section, Strickland expressed his views on Johnson’s political stance.
Sean Strickland shared the video on his recent Instagram story with a scathing remark aimed at Dwayne Johnson. The caption read:
“Meanwhile he voted for Biden… Lol fake… Every ounce of this man is fake.”
The Rock openly supported Joe Biden and Kamala Harris back in 2020 during the American presidential election. In the 2024 presidential elections, The Rock claimed that we would once again lend a helping hand to Joe Biden. Sean Strickland may have brutally attacked The Rock for this reason.
Former UFC champion Sean Strickland does not fear sharing his personal views on the mic. Most recently, Strickland picked up an online beef with the Navy Seal community. The ex-middleweight champion also feels that the UFC is denying him a title rematch due to his outspoken nature. Nevertheless, Strickland’s return to the octagon has been confirmed at UFC 302.
Sean Strickland vs. Paulo Costa bout confirmed at UFC 302
Sean Strickland’s reign as UFC middleweight king was short-lived. Strickland was defeated by Du Plessis at UFC 297 via a controversial decision. Following his loss, Strickland demanded an immediate title rematch against Dricus Du Plessis. But due to multiple injuries and Dana White not providing any concrete updates, the title rematch never materialized.
Sean Strickland will now lock horns inside the octagon with Paulo Costa at UFC 302. Paulo Costa is coming off a narrow defeat to Robert Whittaker. This is going to be a very interesting matchup between two unorthodox UFC fighters.
Strickland recently shared his candid thoughts on the Paulo Costa bout writing, “Let’s do some bleeding.”
Sean Strickland did not get his title rematch against Dricus Du Plessis but still got the chance to make his case at UFC 302. With a win over Paulo Costa, Strickland will most definitely call out the champion. It would be interesting to see what would be next for Paulo Costa if he secures a win over Sean Strickland.
