Joel Embiid Signs One Of The Richest Multi-Year Contracts In 76ers History

Despite dealing with a number of injuries, former MVP Joel Embiid had a breakout last season. The seven-time All-Star is one of the best big men in the NBA right now, so the 76ers didn’t think twice about offering him a rich three-year deal.

Shams Charania of The Athletic revealed that Joel Embiid has signed a new three-year, $193 million deal. According to this contract, he will play for the 76ers until the 2028–29 season.

With this contract extension, Embiid is ready for the new season with high hopes. He’ll play alongside star guard Tyrese Maxey and new teammate Paul George, making the 76ers top contenders in the Eastern Conference.

After the extension, Joel Embiid expressed his gratitude towards the city of Philadelphia and the 76ers organization. He said, “Through all the ups and downs, this city and the fans have been everything, and I am so grateful for how they’ve embraced me. I want to thank Josh, David, and the entire organization. Philadelphia is home and it’s time to bring this community an NBA championship.”

Considering all the love and affection he received from the team, he also expressed his desire to retire as a 76ers member.
