“It is personal” – Shaq O’Neal Opens Up About His Beef With Rudy Gobert

Shaq O’Neal is regarded as one of the NBA’s most important centers, so he has often had high hopes for today’s players. He recently became a headline for his specially designed Cyber Car, but shortly after, he incited a heated argument by labeling Rudy Gobert the “worst player in the NBA.”

Shaq O’Neal recently revealed that he and Timberwolves center Rudy Gobert had a falling out. His response felt tough because he made it clear that it was personal.

While criticizing Rudy, he explicitly addressed his lackluster effort. O’Neal finally shared why he questioned Gobert’s effort. David Robinson, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and Patrick Ewing were all outstanding players who didn’t make as much money as Gobert does now. He wants Gobert to play as hard as those players.

On The Big Podcast, Shaq O’Neal said, “When I made the comments about Rudy Gobert, people think it’s personal. Yeah, it is personal… David Robinson, who only made $116M… Kareem[Abdul-Jabbar], most he ever made was $3M… I paved the way for y’all. You’re making [$200M]. Play hard.”

Shaq O’Neal talks about what to expect from the Lakers

On ESPN’s “The Pat McAfee Show,” the four-time NBA champion discussed the Lakers’ impending season under new coach J.J. Redick. He expressed worry about Redick’s coaching expertise, adding, ” I think they’re going to have a rough start, personally…I’ve always said, if you truly respect your coach, you’ll go out and play hard for them.”

Shaq O’Neal also asked if the players would pay attention when Redick speaks, saying, “We don’t know yet, but we’ll see.” He thinks the team will start slowly this season. He believes it will take time for them to learn how to play under Coach Redick.
