Bronny James Makes His NBA Preseason Debut, Kicking Off His Lakers Journey

Even though Dalton Knecht was the Lakers’ top rookie prospect after being picked 17th in the 2024 NBA Draft, fans are more excited about Bronny James, who was picked 55th.

Despite his average performance in six summer league games, the community eagerly awaited his NBA debut, which he finally made, but his dad wasn’t there with him.

The Timberwolves defeated the Lakers 124-107 in their preseason opener, but Bronny James played well defensively, including a block that set up Rui Hachimura for an assist.

With 56.9 seconds remaining, he managed to score a layup after missing his first five attempts. Throughout the second and most of the fourth quarter, the 6-foot-2 guard contributed to the team’s performance with three blocks, one rebound, and an assist.

Meanwhile, hitting a mid-range shot for his first two points, rookie Dalton Knecht showed promise on offense. In the last six minutes of the first half, he scored six points, stole the ball, and blocked a shot.

Fans were super excited to see LeBron James and his son Bronny share the court. But LeBron had to sit on the bench while Bronny shined in the spotlight all by himself.

LeBron offers guidance to Bronny James during Lakers debut

In his first preseason game, Bronny had a tough start. He missed all three of his shots, including a 3-pointer. So, during a timeout, LeBron James gave Bronny some advice using hand signals, and Bronny listened carefully.

After that, the 19-year-old played much better in the second and fourth quarters. Before the game, he said he was nervous but excited to learn from his teammates. He wanted to show his skills if he got the chance. And he did, showing he could learn from his dad and play well on the court.
