Bronny James Calls Lakers NBA Debut A ‘Grateful Opportunity’

Bronny James made his NBA debut with the Los Angeles Lakers in a preseason game against the Minnesota Timberwolves. The 19-year-old rookie, who is now part of the Lakers’ legendary roster, showed determination and gratitude after intense training sessions with the Purple and Gold. Now, he looks ahead to facing the Phoenix Suns.

The Lakers’ recent practices have focused on teamwork, with Bronny fully engaged alongside veteran players. Coaches have praised his quick learning and strong connections with teammates. As he gears up to take on the Suns, he expresses his gratitude for the opportunity.

Bronny James added, “I went in there, tried my hardest. Worked my butt off. It’s going to be a special full circle moment for me playing the Suns tomorrow.”

Bronny’s preseason NBA debut was filled with excitement and a lot of anticipation. Even though the Lakers didn’t come out on top against the Timberwolves, Bronny had some bright moments, putting up two points, snagging one rebound, handing out one assist, and making three blocks.

Even though his performance didn’t quite shine like that of some of the other Lakers rookies, it was still a significant milestone in his career, especially after he recovered from a cardiac arrest in July 2023.

LeBron James expresses pride as Bronny James nears first game together

As the NBA preseason heats up, the basketball world is abuzz with anticipation for a historic moment: the potential first game featuring both King James and his son, Bronny James, playing together for the Los Angeles Lakers. The future seems bright for this father-son duo, and LeBron James is brimming with pride.

Bronny James played in the Lakers’ first preseason game while his father, LeBron James, sat on the bench as part of a decision to reduce his workload. LeBron talked about how proud and excited he was for his son’s debut while watching from the stands.

The 39-year-old said, “It was great to see Bronny out there. Every rank that you climb is always an adjustment to get used to it…he lost pretty much almost a third of a season last year because of the condition, but he’s got better and better every day. He’s continued to put the work in.”

He added, “I think we were very intent on what we want to accomplish going forward. I think (Friday) was one of those first games. It’s been a while since a lot of guys have played in a game setting, and it looked that way.”
