Lakers’ Coach JJ Redick’s Strategy Backfires As Knecht Misses Three-Pointer

JJ Redick is having a hard time as the new Lakers coach. He started with a lineup that had seen success over the past two seasons, and at first glance, it seemed promising. However, things quickly took a 180-degree turn.

In a disappointing end to the preseason game against the Phoenix Suns, his strategy backfired when rookie guard Hunter Knecht missed a crucial three-pointer in the final seconds.

People are upset with Lakers coach JJ Redick because he let Dalton Knecht take a last-second three-point shot. Knecht missed, and the Lakers lost to the Phoenix Suns. They had made a strong comeback, but the missed shot cost them the game.

Lakers reporter Mike Trudell tweeted about how Redick’s plan fell apart at the last minute. Fans flooded the comments, criticizing his strategy of focusing on three-point shots. Surprisingly, Redick encouraged all the starters except D’Angelo Russell to shoot more threes.

In a similar situation, Lindy Waters’ three-pointers helped the Golden State Warriors avoid defeat one day ago. Redick tried to go for a similar approach, but it just didn’t pan out this time, and fans were quick to share their frustrations.

This may be the first time JJ Redick has faced backlash. Before this, fans praised him, even with his rookie coaching experience.

Former Cavs guard praises JJ Redick’s amazing basketball IQ

Iman Shumpert, a former Cavs guard who faced JJ Redick multiple times from 2012 to 2021, is among many who are closely monitoring the Lakers’ play. In an interview promoting his new show, “Taking One For The Team,” Shumpert expressed excitement about Redick’s coaching skills and how he will lead the Lakers.

He said, “I think JJ Redick has an incredible basketball mind. I always loved watching his analytics work. Having him as an analyst is great. I think he gives a fair critique… So knowing that and knowing that combined with how he was as a player, people don’t know, but JJ is pretty tough as a player.
