Shams Charania Highlights Three Key Skills JJ Redick Brings to the Lakers

Shams Charania, who’s pretty direct with his takes, recently threw some shade at Darvin Ham while giving a nod to the Lakers’ new head coach, JJ Redick. With the NBA season quickly approaching, Charania emphasized three essential skills that Redick brought to the table that Ham did not, making him a significant asset to the squad.

Darvin Ham faced plenty of criticism during his time with the Lakers, especially for benching key players early last season. In Netflix’s “Starting 5,” Ham’s decision to limit his minutes even frustrated LeBron James. Shams Charania summed up the issues, highlighting three key skills Ham lacked as a coach, which Redick now brings to the team in his new role.

In the latest episode of Sports Center, Charania said, “JJ Redick is keeping it true to exactly how he is and who he is as a person and the three words that I hear from people around the Lakers are ‘Details, Accountability, and Structure’ that’s something that the Lakers felt like they were missing a season ago under Darvin Ham.”

JJ Redick shares an update on Austin Reaves’ injury status

No solid news on when Austin Reaves might be back in the starting lineup, but JJ Redick isn’t counting him out just yet. ESPN’s Dave McMenamin said that Reaves is recovering day by day and didn’t play against the Bucks because of a sore ankle.

Reaves practiced a bit on Saturday with a brace on his ankle. Even though he missed a preseason game, Redick thinks Reaves will do really well this season. JJ Redick said, “We hope there’s not a dip in efficiency. If anything, I would expect there to be an increase.”
