In a thrilling season opener, the Minnesota Timberwolves narrowly defeated the Sacramento Kings with a final score of 117-115 on Thursday night. With just 2.4 seconds remaining, Timberwolves’ guard Anthony Edwards sealed the victory with a pair of free throws.
Anthony Edwards, who finished the game with 32 points, was fouled by Kings’ center Domantas Sabonis on a drive to the basket. The star guard calmly sank both free throws, giving Minnesota a one-point lead.
Julius Randle led the Timberwolves with an impressive performance, scoring 33 points in his second game after a trade from New York. Naz Reid also contributed significantly, adding 19 points and 13 rebounds.
Meanwhile, DeMar DeRozan, making his Sacramento debut, led the team with 26 points. Domantas Sabonis added 24 points and 8 rebounds, while Keegan Murray scored 23 points. However, Kings’ forward Keegan Murray attempted a last-second three-pointer, but it rimmed out, securing the Timberwolves’ win.
