“I’ll Go Up There And Pull It Down Myself” – Rapper Drake Slams Idea Of Raptors Retiring DeMar DeRozan’s Jersey

The once “brother-like” bond between DeMar DeRozan and rapper Drake seems to be fading continuously. Their relationship took a hit after DeRozan’s appearance in Kendrick Lamar’s diss track “Not Like Us.” Adding to the tension, Drake recently joined the TSN broadcast and bluntly shared that he wouldn’t want the Raptors to retire DeRozan’s jersey.

At the Raptors’ latest game against the Kings, where they retired Vince Carter’s No. 15 jersey, Drake, the Raptors’ global ambassador, had some strong thoughts about retiring DeRozan’s jersey. He was totally against the idea, saying, “If you ever put a DeRozan banner up, I’ll go up there and pull it down myself.”

The tension between them started when DeRozan showed up in Kendrick Lamar’s diss track, “Not Like Us.” This appearance seemed to support Lamar over Drake, which stirred up some drama between them.

The Raptors haven’t announced if they’ll retire DeRozan’s jersey, but it’s possible because of his impact on the team. If they do, things might get even more tense between these two old friends. Many fans speculate that Drake’s remarks have irreparably damaged their bond, prompting the NBA community to react quickly.

However, the situation took a sharp turn when Demar Derozan responded to Drake’s comment.

DeMar DeRozan, forward for the Sacramento Kings, has reacted to Drake’s comments about pulling down his banner if the Raptors retire it. After the Kings lost 131-128 to the Raptors, DeRozan spoke at a press conference.

He said, “He’s gonna have a long way to climb to get there. Tell him good luck.” Fans are now waiting to see if the Raptors will retire DeRozan’s jersey and how Drake will react if they do.
