Football great John Robinson, who won two NFC championships with the Los Angeles Rams and guided USC to national prominence, died on November 11 at the age of 89. He died in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, after having problems with his asthma.
Robinson has resided in Encinitas for the past few years and served as a San Marcos High School director. Football fans are very sad about his death because he was loved for how he changed college and professional football.
John Robinson had a remarkable career. He coached USC to a 104-35-4 record, five conference titles, and four Rose Bowl wins. He later coached the Los Angeles Rams from 1983 to 1991, leading them to six playoff appearances and two NFC Championship games.

With a 75-68 record, he won more games than any other Rams coach in team history. Robinson’s success in both college and pro football earned him a spot in the College Football Hall of Fame.
