Kyle Singler, the 33rd pick in the 2011 NBA Draft by the Detroit Pistons, played six seasons in the NBA. Off the court, he has openly talked about his mental health struggles. He has recently caused concern among his former colleagues and supporters with some cryptic videos he posted on Instagram.
Shared on Tuesday, the videos feature Singler appearing shirtless and expressing distressing thoughts about his life and treatment by his community. In the first video, he stated, “”I have been mistreated and abused, neglected, made into a mental example and I fear for my life every day. And people in my community make me look out as if I’m going to be someone that’s going to be a problem and make things difficult for people when I’m only trying to be helpful.”
He continued, “People in my community make me look out as if I’m going to be someone that’s going to be a problem and make things difficult for people when I’m only trying to be helpful. I feel like I have a certain way about myself and strength and purpose that does not get valued or get treated properly.”
It abruptly ends after about 90 seconds. Kyle Singler then posted another video with similar concerning content, sparking more worry about his mental health. Kevin Love, who played with Singler on AAU teams, urged people to reach out and “show him love and support.”
