Lakers Let Fans Down in Must-Win Game, Ending Emirates NBA Cup Dreams

The Los Angeles Lakers were unable to advance to the knockout stage of the Emirates NBA Cup after their loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder. They finished with a 2-2 record, which wasn’t enough to make it to the next round. This left both Lakers and LeBron James fans upset.

In a must-win game to stay in the tournament, the purple and gold lost to the Oklahoma City Thunder, 101-93. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led the Thunder with 36 points, including 15 in the final quarter, helping seal the win.

The game was a tough defensive struggle, with both teams having trouble scoring. Despite the team’s effort, they couldn’t overcome Gilgeous-Alexander’s clutch play, especially his key three-pointer that put the Thunder ahead 95-91 with less than two minutes to go.

King LeBron James had just 12 points, eight rebounds, and six assists in 33 minutes. Anthony Davis contributed 15 points, 12 rebounds, seven assists, and four blocks in 38 minutes.

Fans were mad at James and Davis because they had a tough first half and couldn’t get better in the second.

Lakers’ loss to Thunder sparks social media backlash

Fans used Twitter and Instagram to share their disappointment and anger over the game. Many were upset with LeBron James and Anthony Davis, saying they didn’t perform well when the team needed them most.

@MoSmamba714 tweeted, “See that?! Lebron with the turnover, body language is crap after, doesn’t run back, OKC misses the fast break layup, no Lakers are there to rebound! Its little things like that that really hurt us down the stretch! #Lakers.”

@2KWRLDWIDE wrote, “The Lakers losing to the Thunder pisses me off more than the Nuggets loss nbs.”

@LeBron_SZN_ explained, “Thunder clearly had a game plan that was to not let the Lakers run the offense through AD, and it worked, only 93 points from the Lakers.”

@BigBabyJonathan noted, “LeBron James is doing a lot of unnecessary bullshit turnovers but I know everybody’s gonna say leave him alone 22nd season he’s about to be 40 years old. Nothing new here.”
