He struggled to get up and could barely walk off the field. Then Mahomes was unable to return to the game and was replaced by veteran quarterback Carson Wentz. Fans are now anxiously waiting for updates on their star quarterback.
Chiefs head coach shares Patrick Mahomes’ injury update
After Patrick Mahomes hurt his ankle, Chiefs coach Andy Reid gave an update. Despite the severity of the injury, Reid clarified that Mahomes’ ankle is merely sore, not broken. According to CBS Sports, Mahomes has a high ankle sprain, and his recovery is expected to be week-to-week.
After the game, the head coach revealed, “It’s not broken; it’s sore.” Mahomes also said if the game had been closer, he would’ve tried harder to go back in. “I wanted to to go back out there, and I probably would have fought a little bit harder if the game had been one score,” Mahomes said after the game.
