LeBron James Speaks Out on Physicality After Lakers’ Tough Loss to Pistons

After the Los Angeles Lakers lost 117-114 to the Detroit Pistons on Monday night, LeBron James talked to the media about the Pistons’ physical play. He was clearly frustrated with the Lakers’ performance and mentioned that his teammates lacked physicality.

LeBron James led the game in scoring, skillfully handling the Pistons’ tough defense. However, the Lakers struggled overall. Anthony Davis managed only 19 points, and the bench didn’t deliver, with no player hitting double digits.

After the game, the 39-year-old star confidently shared how his high school football days prepared him to thrive in challenging situations, in response to media questions about whether Detroit’s physical play was too much for the Lakers.

LeBron James said, “You just gotta match physicality with physicality. I can’t speak for anybody but myself when it comes to that. I’m a football player so I don’t mind physicality, to be honest. Perfectly fine for me but as a team we have to be better. We gotta do it as a team… It’s not something that you’re going to learn. It’s either in you or it’s not.”

Even though LeBron James played well, the Pistons’ tough style of play gave the Lakers a hard time. Detroit scored more points than Los Angeles on fast breaks, turnovers, and inside the paint, showing their strength in these areas.

LeBron James sets new Lakers record on Monday night

LeBron James made a record three-pointer against the Pistons, moving to second place on the Lakers’ all-time three-pointers list with 847. Kobe Bryant still holds the top spot with 1,827 3-pointers, far ahead of LeBron.

Derek Fisher (846), Nick Van Exel (750), and Byron Scott (595) then take the third, fourth, and fifth spots on the list. The Lakers celebrated on social media, saying, “King lets it reign, LeBron secures his spot at second place for made threes in Lakers history.”
