Jon Moxley, once known as Dean Ambrose, is one of the toughest wrestlers in AEW right now. After ending Bryan Danielson’s AEW career and winning the AEW World Championship, he has become a dominant force in the company.
Many fans have noticed that his dominance feels similar to Roman Reigns’ Tribal Chief era, which began in 2020. However, Moxley has never openly copied or followed Reigns in the ring or on the mic.
But in a recent episode of AEW Dynamite, some of his words felt like a true tribute to “The OTC.” In a small but meaningful moment on AEW Dynamite, he nodded at the camera while saying something that reminded fans of Roman Reigns’ famous promos.

Jon Moxley claimed that the show—and everything in it—belonged to him. The tribute did not go unnoticed by fans, who quickly took to social media to decode Moxley’s homage to Reigns.
They quickly identified that it was similar to what Reigns once said in 2022 when he declared his dominance over Brock Lesnar on SmackDown. It looks like the old Shield brothers still follow each other, even though Roman Reigns said he hasn’t seen Moxley in a long time.
Roman Reigns says he hasn’t spoken to Jon Moxley in a while
In a recent interview with SHAK Wrestling, Roman Reigns was asked to share a story about Jon Moxley. While he had many memories, he admitted they hadn’t talked in a while. He admitted that their communication has slowed down since Moxley left WWE for AEW.
Reigns said, “It’s been a while. I haven’t talked to him in a bit. There’s so many stories I could tell you, I’m trying to think of the kookiest one because he has a bunch of them.”
