Dallas Mavericks star Kyrie Irving recently made headlines after leaving the court early during the team’s recent game against the Sacramento Kings. On the first note, it looked like a leg injury, as he couldn’t put any weight on his left leg.
The recovery time from that injury wasn’t shared on that night, but it was expected the injury could end Irving’s season this time. According to the most recent news, the possible fear turned out to be true.
The Mavericks are in a tough spot as they fight for a playoff spot. Currently, they hold the 10th seed in the Western Conference, but their record dropped to 32-30 after losing to the Kings. They are only three and a half games ahead of the Suns.

Kyrie Irving’s injury adds to the team’s struggles. The Mavericks have dealt with injuries all season, losing key players like Anthony Davis, who has an adductor strain. Luka Dončić was also traded to the Lakers earlier this year.
Dr. Ochiai said that Irving’s recovery could take a year or more. If he also tore his meniscus, it could make things worse, but the team hasn’t said that’s the case yet. However, one thing is sure: his return remains uncertain.
Shams Charania reports another major injury after Kyrie Irving’s setback
Another piece of awful news for Mavs fans came from Shams Charania after Kyrie Irving’s season-ending injury. “Another injury blow to Dallas: Mavericks forward Olivier-Maxence Prosper has a serious right wrist injury and is expected to require season-ending surgery,” Shams Charania of ESPN reported in a post on Twitter.

With these injuries, the Mavericks’ chances of making the playoffs are looking slim. Head coach Jason Kidd will have to rely on the healthy players left, like Caleb Martin, who will debut for the team against the Memphis Grizzlies. There are also reports that Anthony Davis might play in that game.
