De’Aaron Fox Won’t Explain His Kings Exit but Looks Forward to Fan Reunion

Earlier last month, the Chicago Bulls traded De’Aaron Fox from the Sacramento Kings to the San Antonio Spurs in a three-team deal. Since then, the 27-year-old recently played his first game back against the Kings on Friday night.

When asked why he left the Kings, Fox didn’t say much. However, he shared that he’s excited to see his old fans and be back in the city that supported him.

De’Aaron Fox was a fan favorite in Sacramento, helping the Kings end a long playoff drought and bring joy to the team. When he returned to play against his former team, he couldn’t make sure to win despite scoring 16 points on 6-of-17 shooting.

Fans at the Golden 1 Center gave him a warm welcome with a tribute video and a standing ovation. However, Fox didn’t talk about why he left or any rumors about his last months with the Kings. He just said he was happy to play in front of his old fans again.

Before the game, Fox visited with old friends, took pictures, and signed autographs for fans. Some of the crowd responded to his introduction with a mixture of cheers and boos. The 27-year-old ignored those criticisms, saying they are part of the process.

De’Aaron Fox reflects on tough start against Kings

In the Friday night game against the Kings, De’Aaron Fox had a tough time scoring. He tried 17 shots but only made 6 of them. After the game, the 27-year-old said it felt great to be back playing against his old team, but also a bit weird.

He added, “I didn’t know anything about what the visiting side looked like. It was definitely fun. I’m glad that the first one is over with, because I feel like it probably won’t be as anticipated anymore. But next time hoping for a better game from from us.”
