A video of Khabib Nurmagomedov manhandling Luke Rockhold in training has gone viral. The clip shows dominating Rockhold on the ground as the American prepares for his UFC return.
Following his retirement in 2020, Khabib Nurmagomedov has been rather busy. He has launched his own promotion- Eagle FC, as well as coach fighters such as Islam Makhachev and Usman Nurmagomedov. Another man who has entered the tutelage of “The Eagle” is Luke Rockhold.
Rockhold, a former middleweight champion, last fought in 2019 when he got knocked out by Jan Blachowicz. He is now set to return against Paulo Costa, and is excited to have Khabib in his corner.
Videos have emerged where Khabib and Rockhold are seen wrestling. Khabib, who is very widely known for his grappling skills, is seen dominating Rockhold on the ground.
The American also revealed that Khabib has his eyes set on becoming “Coach of The Year” as he prepares many top fighters for clutch matches.
“He’s assuming this coaching role now. He’s going off on me, wanting to coach me. He wants to be a big part of my comeback so it’s pretty funny to see Khabib assume this role. He’s going for ‘Coach of the Year’. That’s what he wants. He wants to be the next great thing, follow in his dad’s footsteps. That’s what his dad always did. His dad was always insightful and always had a good eye for the sport and I think Khabib is ready to assume that role.”
Rockhold will be hoping that Khabib can help him get back to title contention. With current champion Israel Adesanya out there lapping the entire division, new contenders are becoming more and more necessary as time goes on.
