Danilo Gallinari was scheduled to have surgery after suffering a severe knee injury that forced him to miss the entire season. The forward, on the other hand, has successfully undergone the procedure and has come out to share his experience. He is also anticipating a rapid recovery. The guard is expected to return soon, and if all goes well, he may return earlier than scheduled.
On Aug. 27, the 34-year-old suffered the injury while representing and playing for his country, Italy, in a FIBA World Cup qualifier match against Georgia. Gallinari would have had a much better chance of returning for the 2022-23 season if the initial diagnosis had been a torn meniscus. Unfortunately, the physiotherapist confirmed that he had a torn ACL in his left knee, and he will be sidelined for a lengthy time following successful surgery yesterday.

âYesterday I had successful ACL surgery. Now the focus is on my rehab and return to the game I love,” Gallinari wrote. “I want to thank the Celtics organization and the medical staff at the New England Baptist Hospital. I also want to thank Dr. Antonio Orgiani and Dr. Rodolfo Rocchi for the support they gave me in Italy before surgery. And of course thank you to all of my fans for their continued support and well wishes. See you soon on the court.”
The last time Gallinari tore his ACL, it was in April rather than August, and he missed the entire 2013â14 season. Last season, Gallinari participated in 66 games with the Hawks, scoring 11.7 points and dishing out 4.7 assists in 25.3 minutes per game. In July, the Celtics agreed to a two-year, $13 million deal with the veteran. The franchise has not yet given a return date for the forward.
After losing to the Golden State Warriors in the NBA Finals, the Boston Celtics hoped that the additions of Danilo Gallinari and Malcolm Brogdon, would help them improve their rotation. Gallinari stated in July that playing the past two seasons in Atlanta as a reserve has helped him transition into a phase of his career where he is the focal point of an offense.
