The NBA world was shocked and unrest due to the Kyrie Irving Incident. Some of the NBA stars, including Hall of Famers Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Shaquille O’Neal, and Charles Barkley, have condemned Irving. Most recently, the name of Floyd Mayweather has also been linked to the incident, with the claim that the former professional boxer has lent his support to Irving in this controversial issue.
Everyone concerned, including Irving himself, has sought an apology for hurting the communal feeling of the Jewish people in his anti-Semitic post, which he later deleted. A good number of athletes have commented on this issue, but none in Irving’s favor. But a recent video circulating around the internet showing Floyd Mayweather expressing his support to Irving has surprised the netizens.
In the video, Mayweather emphasized the value of free speech. And that he thinks Irving will motivate others. This video further puzzled viewers. They believed Mayweather was in favor of the current scenario.

However, there is a twist in the plot. This video is from 2021. a few fans were quick to point out that were actually supporting Irving’s stand on vaccination. But some others attacked Mayweather without looking for the truth. In this age of the internet, it is easy to verify information. But as it seems, it’s even easier to fool people.
The reaction netizens are showing by being manipulated by the old video is justified, even if not valid. It is certainly not expected of someone to take Irving’s side in an issue like this. But then again, they should have known the truth before falling for the scam.
